Mummy Dearest.

Where would we be without you?

Mums are great! They totally rock like a boat. I know that; you know that; Autism Support Apps knows that; everybody knows that.

And if you didn’t know, now you do.

We at ASA (Autism Support Apps) want to celebrate all you mums loving and caring for autistic people out there. Raising children is hard work, we see that sometimes you forget yourself, sometimes you could do with a little help, sometimes you’d want someone to care for you too.

While we wish that everyone else saw and appreciated everything that you do, the world is not there yet. But worry not, mummy’s little helpers are working on it, and eventually, we’ll make it happen.

So, as a Mother’s Day gift, here’s a tiny list of e-treats that we thought all you autism supermums might like:

Wolf+Friends is an online, member-only community where parents and caregivers of special needs kids can find connection, inspiration, and expert recommendations.

This award-winning social platform brings together parents and caregivers of children with special needs and healthcare providers (occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.) in a safe, virtual space where they can find the information that they need to make informed decisions about their children.

Described as a parenting ‘game changer’, this social network is said to be perfect for mums of special-needs kids looking for their tribe, for answers to their questions, and for people who get where they are coming from.

There are two levels of engagement on the network, Parents@ Wolf+Friends and Specialist Network@ Wolf+Friends.

It’s free to access the Parents community network while the Specialist network has a prescribed annual fee. If you want to check Wolf+Friends out you can do so here.

Peanut.

Peanut is a social network app that was designed especially for mums.

Aimed at providing support, connection, and community for women from all over the world- throughout all stages of motherhood. While not specifically for mums with autistic children, the app allows users to chose three tags to help them match with others who chose similar tags in their location and one tag option is special needs.

Mums then have the option to send a wave at other mums and will be matched with them if the mum waves back et voila! A connection is made. Simple as that.

Mums can use this nifty little app to schedule play dates, get-togethers, and joint outings – no fuss, no muss. Plus, it’s free to download and use. Extra plus, it has both iOS and Android versions.

Needless to say, we like it.

The Autism Parenting Magazine was established in 2012 with the aim of publishing autism-related topics, events, developments, treatments, and news stories.

This UK-based magazine features articles from hundreds of contributors – respected professionals, autism experts, parents of children on the spectrum, and adults with autism.

This monthly magazine is based on the belief that each child with autism is different and through its carefully researched articles aims at finding what works for each of them.

We concur with this belief and definitely approve of their method!

Even super-mums sometimes need help to stay on top of things. The Birdhouse for Autism App was developed to help caregivers of people with autism record relevant care notes and information in one simple timeline.

Using this app, you could organize behavior notes, nutrition ideas, medical information, activity schedules, therapeutic interventions, and so much more.

This app is intended to help caregivers discern behavioral patterns and in so doing improve upon the care they give, share with professionals and measure care outcomes.

To help achieve this, the app comes with a daily behavioral journal, reminders & notifications to help a caregiver stay in control, and options to record notes from therapy sessions, sleep patterns, dietary matters, medications and supplements etc.

This app is quite literally, an autism mum’s all-in-one mobile pocketbook!

It’s no wonder that Birdhouse for Autism App has received a 5-star review from Special Needs Apps, Smart Apps for Special Needs, and Bridging Apps.

And on that high note, let’s wrap up this year’s gift basket!

If there’s something you’d like to know or an app you’d like us to review, please let us know and we’ll get right on it like butter on toast.

We hope that you had a lovely Mother’s Day, regardless of how you spent it.

Lots and lots of love to all you mums!
